Trade Show Displays | For Small Companies, Part I

Another Trade Show Displays Tip:

Small businesses often get a bad rap in terms of marketing. It is somewhat of a self-fulfilling prophecy; small companies are basically told within their respective industries, occupied by larger companies with a larger bankroll behind them, that they are ill-equipped to compete on a level playing field. They are told this in so many words by the high-brow glossy print advertisements, billboards, impossibly expensive airtime that is host to equally expensive television commercials, and all the other ways in which big companies embark upon advertising and marketing. The truth is that smaller companies can’t compete; nor should they try. It’s like comparing apples and oranges. But this does not mean that they should not promote themselves with their own means and to their target audience. Oranges are not apples; but they are just as good and there is certainly a large segment of the population that prefers them.

This tendency to go quietly into the night impacts small companies on a number of levels when it comes to marketing their industries and they may not be inclined to participate in marketing opportunities where they feel that they may slip between the cracks; opportunities such as trade shows with trade show exhibits.  The fact of the matter is, however, that trade shows are the perfect opportunity for small and large companies to participate simultaneously as the playing field is actually leveled within this controlled environment.

By coming to a trade show prepared with their highest level of marketing polish, smaller companies can not only compete, they can shine. And this often begins with the creation of sophisticated trade show exhibits that will introduce a company – large or small – to the other participants at the trade show as well as their potential customers. Trade show exhibits are what will ultimately be the calling card of any successful trade show participant and they should be regarded as such – with great thought.
