In the last post we talked about the importance of utilizing trade show exhibits to maximize a company’s success within a trade show environment. This is more than just an opportunity to showcase your company’s products and services and more than just an opportunity to hand out brochures to passerby. Trade shows offer a unique opportunity for companies to step into a focused, competitive arena and do the work it takes to promote their company and compete for new business.

To this end, the use of trade show exhibits helps to generate a buzz around the company in question, allowing them to make a first – and sometimes subsequent – impression on trade show attendees and hopefully inspire them to follow through by speaking to a company representative and gathering more information about the business.

Previously we talked about some of the considerations that should be made by businesses looking to create customized trade show exhibits – including visual impact and the use of multimedia. Both are crucial to making that impactful first impression within those very short first few seconds that passerby view your trade show displays. And both will say in a matter of seconds what a brochure cannot. But some of the other considerations when it comes to creating trade show exhibits that work include:

* Staffing the booth. Trade show exhibits are more than just placeholders at a trade show. Companies that want to have a successful experience at a trade show must plan for a full follow through; which means that they must deliver on the front end in terms of their visual impact through their trade show displays and deliver on the back-end in terms of having knowledgeable company representatives there to speak to interested prospective customers.

* Offering takeaways. Brochures won’t do much in the way of initial visual appeal. Spreading a bunch of brochures out on a table – no matter how colorful – will not compete with professionally designed, thoughtfully created trade show displays, but they will – and should – be a great hand out for interested passerby. This allows them to keep your company fresh in their mind.
